How It Works

Metal roofing. Built to last decades.

1

Structural Assessment

We inspect your roof structure to confirm it can support the metal system you choose. We check decking, framing, and ventilation rules specific to metal roofing in Central Valley heat.

2

Panel Selection & Design

Choose from standing seam, corrugated, or stone-coated metal tiles. We help you select the profile, gauge, finish, and color that matches your home style and performance rules.

3

Precision Installation

Metal roofing demands exact measurements and proper fastening. Heat expansion, panel alignment, and flashing details must be perfect. Our crews are trained in metal-specific install methods.

4

Final Inspection & Warranty

We inspect every panel, fastener, and flashing point. Your maker warranty is registered on site. Most metal roofing systems carry 40 to 60-year warranties with proper install.

Metal Roofing Types

Profiles built for performance.

Metal roofing comes in several profiles, each with distinct advantages. Here are the options we install most across Central Valley.

Standing Seam

Concealed fastener system with raised seams that lock panels together. The cleanest look, the best weather performance, and zero exposed fasteners to corrode. Ideal for new homes and commercial buildings. Also the best choice for solar panel clamp mounting.

Corrugated Metal

Exposed fastener system with a classic ribbed profile. Cost-good and proven on agricultural, commercial, and residential buildings. Available in galvanized steel and painted finishes.

Stone-Coated Metal Tiles

The appearance of tile or shake with the performance of metal. Stone-coated steel panels offer Class A fire rating, hail resistance, and 50+ year warranties in a lightweight package.

Energy Efficiency & Fire Rating

All metal roofing systems carry Class A fire resistance, the highest rating available. Reflective metal finishes reduce cooling costs significantly in Central Valley summers. Metal roofs meet and go over California Title 24 cool-roof standards.

Why Econo Roofing

Metal roofing requires metal expertise.

Thermal Expansion Knowledge

Metal expands and contracts with heat swings. In Central Valley, where summer days hit 110 degrees and winter nights drop to freezing, proper allowance for heat movement is key. Improper install causes oil-canning, popped fasteners, and leaks.

40 to 60+ Year Lifespan

A properly installed metal roof is likely the last roof your home will ever need. The higher upfront cost pays for itself many times over compared to replacing asphalt shingles every 20 years.

Insurance Discounts

Many insurance companies offer premium discounts for metal roofs due to their superior fire and hail resistance. Ask your carrier about savings after install.

When to Call

Signs metal roofing is right for you.

Metal is not for every home, but for the right situation it is the best long-term investment in roofing.

You plan to stay long-term

Metal's higher upfront cost pays off over 15+ years of ownership with zero replacement cycles.

Fire risk is a concern

Metal roofs are non-combustible and carry the highest fire rating. Key in wildfire-prone foothill areas.

Energy costs are high

Reflective metal finishes reduce roof surface heat by up to 40%, lowering AC demand.

You want solar compatibility

Standing seam metal allows clamp-on solar mounting with no roof penetrations.

Frequently asked

About metal roofing.

How long does a metal roof last?

Standing-seam metal roofs usually last 50–70 years with proper install. The metal itself outlasts most homeowners — failures usually trace back to flashing or fastener issues, not the panels.

What does a metal roof cost in the Central Valley?

Standing-seam metal installed runs $11–$18 per square foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home runs $26,000–$42,000 depending on panel profile, color, and underlayment spec.

Is metal roofing noisy in rain?

New installs include a fiberglass batt under-deck plus underlayment that absorbs sound. Inside the home, metal is no louder than asphalt or tile — the "tin roof in rain" sound is from old direct-to-rafter installs.

Will metal attract lightning?

No more than any other material. Lightning strikes the tallest object regardless of conductivity. Metal is actually safer than asphalt — it's non-combustible and disperses energy without igniting.

What metal types do you install?

Standing-seam steel (24-gauge most common), aluminum (corrosion-resistant for coastal homes), and zinc-aluminum coated panels (PAC-CLAD, McElroy). We do not install screw-down corrugated panels on residential — the exposed fasteners fail in 15–20 years.

Will metal interfere with solar?

No. Metal roofs are actually preferred substrates for solar — standing-seam clamps mount without penetrations, removing the #1 source of solar leaks.

When You Need It

When to call us for metal roofing.

Metal roofing makes sense when you want longest-possible service life (40-70 years), highest fire resistance (Class A rating), best wind resistance (rated for 110-140 mph winds), or maximum solar-ready compatibility. Metal is also the best choice for low-slope sections where traditional shingles aren't suitable, and for properties in fire-prone hill or wildland-urban interface zones.

Materials & Methods

Metal Roofing materials & systems we install.

We install standing-seam metal from PAC-CLAD, Englert, MBCI, and Drexel Metals. usually 24-gauge or 26-gauge steel with Kynar 500 PVDF coatings (resists fading and chalking for 30+ years). Aluminum standing-seam is available for coastal applications. Color options include traditional matte galvalume, classic colors (Burnished Slate, Slate Gray, Charcoal), and new (Metallic Silver, Copper Penny). All systems carry 35-50 year maker warranties.

Process & Timeline

What to expect — our metal roofing process.

Metal installs are usually more complex than asphalt due to specialized seaming techniques. Tear-off through final detail flashing on a 2,000-sq-ft home runs 3-5 days. We use high-temp synthetic underlayment beneath metal panels (mainly rated for the higher heat metal systems know-how). Snow guards are installed on north-facing slopes for foothill applications. Final inspection includes seam-tightness testing.

Cost Factors

Metal Roofing cost in California.

Metal roofing runs $8-$18/sq-ft installed (higher than $4-$8/sq-ft for asphalt) — but the longer service life makes the long-term cost-per-year competitive or better. A 2,000-sq-ft home with standing-seam metal usually costs $32,000-$50,000 turnkey. Insurance premiums often drop 10-20% on metal-roof homes due to fire and wind resistance ratings.

What sets us apart

Why homeowners choose us for metal roofing.

The biggest difference between us and most other metal roofing contractors comes down to certification. Most local roofers can install the materials. Few can register the warranties that protect those installations for 25-50 years. As OC Platinum Preferred contractors — the top 1% of Owens Corning installers nationwide — we register Platinum Protection warranties that cover both materials and workmanship for life, non-prorated. As GAF Master Elite contractors — the top 2% of GAF installers — we register Golden Pledge warranties that cover 50 years of materials plus 25 years of workmanship. As CertainTeed Select ShingleMaster contractors, we register 5-Star Protection warranties that include 25 years of SureStart manufacturer-backed workmanship coverage. None of these are available through uncertified contractors.

The certifications are earned through years of training, install audits, and customer satisfaction tracking. Each manufacturer maintains the certification only if our install quality and review scores stay above their thresholds. We’ve held OC Platinum Preferred since 2008, GAF Master Elite for over a decade, and CertainTeed Select ShingleMaster certification continuously. The audits matter because they keep us honest. We can’t cut corners on material grade, install method, or finish quality — the manufacturers track every job we register.

The crew matters as much as the certifications. Our metal roofing crews are W-2 employees of Econo Roofing, not subcontractors. Each crew member completes annual factory training from GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed. We invest in training because the difference between a 25-year roof and a 35-year roof comes down to install detail. Proper underlayment lap. Correct nail placement and depth. Sealed flashing. Adequate attic ventilation. None of these require special tools — just trained, supervised installers who care about the work. Mario Espindola personally reviews every project scope before work begins and walks the finished roof before the crew leaves.

We also stand by our work financially. We carry $1 million general liability insurance and full workers comp coverage. We’re bonded ($25,000 CSLB contractor bond). License #749551, verifiable at CSLB.ca.gov. We’re family-owned and operated since 1996 — same family, same standards, three regional brands (Econo Roofing in Delhi, Nushake Roofing in Ripon, DeHart Roofing in Turlock). We’re not going anywhere. If something goes wrong with your metal roofing project — even years later — we’re here to make it right. That permanence matters when you’re investing in 30-50 years of weatherproofing.

Pricing is flat-rate. We quote the project, you approve the project, and that’s the price. No change orders mid-project unless you change the scope. No surprise charges. No upselling once the crew is on the roof. Free written estimates with no obligation, available across all 52 cities we serve.
