Case Studies
Every roof has a story. Here are three that show what goes into getting it right.
The homeowner had a 1920s Victorian in Modesto's College District with a failing 3-tab roof. Two previous contractors had declined the job because of the steep pitch, multiple dormers, and cut valleys that made the geometry difficult. Our crew spent a full day on measurements alone. We tore off three layers of old material down to the original skip sheathing, added solid plywood decking, installed ice and water shield at every valley and dormer junction, and finished with OC Duration shingles in Onyx Black. The steep pitch required scaffold staging on three sides. Total timeline from tear-off to final inspection was eight working days.
A food distribution warehouse near the Port of Stockton needed a full commercial re-roof. The existing built-up roof was ponding water near three drain locations and two of the 14 HVAC units had active leaks around their curbs. We phased the project across four weeks so the warehouse could stay operational. Each section was stripped, re-sloped with tapered ISO board insulation to eliminate ponding, and covered with 60-mil TPO membrane. All 14 HVAC curbs got new flashing boots. We pressure-tested each section before moving to the next. The building owner enrolled in our 2-year preventative maintenance program after completion.
A January windstorm tore shingles off a single-story home on Geer Road. The homeowner called us on a Saturday morning. We had a crew on-site within 90 minutes to tarp the exposed sections and prevent water intrusion. Monday morning we met with the insurance adjuster, provided drone photography of the full roof surface, and submitted a detailed scope of damage. The claim was approved within a week. We completed the full tear-off and replacement with GAF Timberline HDZ shingles in Charcoal, added new seamless gutters, and passed final city inspection 11 days after the original call. The homeowner paid only their deductible.
